How to make statistics more effective in colleges and how to improve the teaching of statistics and statistical thinking on cross-pollination between academia and society have been main concerns for statisticians. This web-site aims to achieve a user-friendly and highly interactive learning environment.

    In order to speed up the dissemination of knowledge of statistics, no password or requirement is needed for accessing the learning system. Everyone interested in statistics can freely use the resources provided by the system. In the system, any information about statistics can reach any person in any time at any place.

"Course Notes" section includes the lecture notes for several statistical courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels. "On-line Software" implements a few commonly used statistical methods. These statistical methods are based on JAVA applications within Web page. These JAVA applications can be incorporated with the on-line exercises within the course notes. In addition, for small data set, these applications can serve as simple on-line software for those who do not have any statistical software at hand.

  • Interaction
    This section consists of 3 subsections, Discussion, Good Books and Web Sites. The "Discussion" section, including several discussion boards, was presented in hierarchical structure which the users can browse the messages easily. It provides an environment on which the students can ask questions and share their ideas and experiences in statistics. The students can also play the role of lecturers in communicating statistical insight while the lecturer can play the role of facilitator or coach. "Good Books" section lists and introduces good books recommended by the students or lecturers in different areas. "Web Sites" section includes numerous of informative web sites also suggested by the students or lecturers.

    This section consists of 3 subsections, Search, Vocabulary and Update Log. The "Search" section provides full-text index and simple logical functions for search. The "Vocabulary" section provides the Chinese translations of some commonly used statistical glossaries. The updated information of the "Web Statistics" is given in the "Update Log" section.

    This section consists of 3 subsections, Comment, Survey and Contact Me. The "Comments" section provides the students a channel on which the students can give their valuable suggestions for "Web Statistics".
